This policy explains how LyricGlass handles playback information, lyrics, preferences and diagnostic data in the iPhone app and its widgets. It will be updated if the release scope changes. No separate LyricGlass account is required.
Pronunciation aids, cached content and display settings are primarily processed on your device. Lyric lookup, artwork lookup and online translation send necessary information to their respective services.
1. Information processed on your device
After music permission is granted, the app reads the current title, artist, album, duration, progress and playback state to match and display lyrics. It does not read your Apple ID password. Local storage holds lyric and translation caches, imported LRC files, preferences and matching choices. The app and widgets share necessary content through an App Group. Pronunciation is generated locally.
Local diagnostics record sync events, times, process/build details and hashed track identifiers. The app does not automatically upload these logs. You may export them and choose where to share them.
2. Network services
Lyric lookup: LRCLIB and NetEase Music query endpoints receive matching information such as track title, artist, duration or identifiers. Providers also receive connection information such as IP addresses and control their own logs and retention.
Apple catalog: Track identifiers or title/artist/album queries may be sent to Apple to retrieve reliably matched artwork and metadata.
Online translation: When online translation and translation display are enabled, lyric text and language pairs are sent to MyMemory (Translated). Its terms allow retention of submitted text and access logs and describe machine translation partners. The app calls its query endpoint, not its public contribution endpoint; that does not mean queries are never retained. Do not use online translation for personal or confidential text you do not want sent to this service. Choose on-device translation or disable translation in Settings.
On-device translation: Apple Translation depends on supported hardware and language packs. Apple manages language pack downloads and system services.
Optional Spotify: Current test builds support official Spotify authorization and SDK/API access for playback state or user-initiated controls. Tokens are stored in the shared system Keychain; the app does not read your Spotify password. Eligibility and policies limit availability. The current build retains optional Spotify connectivity, subject to service access eligibility and applicable provider terms.
The earlier experimental ActivityKit push backend is disabled in the current build; lyric schedules and activity push tokens are not sent to that backend. Any future use will require updated disclosures and choices.
LyricGlass has no advertising SDK and does not use app data for cross-company advertising tracking or sell personal information. Connected providers handle received data under their own policies. Primarily local processing does not mean the app never connects to the network or that providers never retain data.
4. Your choices
Manage music access and Live Activity permissions in system settings.
Disable translation or select supported on-device translation.
Clear lyric caches in the app. This does not clear all preferences, imported files or provider records.
Disconnect Spotify to remove locally saved authorization credentials and manage authorization in your Spotify account. Uninstalling may not delete Keychain entries.
Uninstalling removes ordinary app container data; backups, shared containers and Keychain retention are managed by the system. Contact support to request deletion of information you previously sent us, identifying the relevant support request.
5. Retention and security
Local files and credentials use iOS app isolation, file protection or Keychain as applicable. Network calls use HTTPS. Providers may process requests outside your region and determine their own retention periods. We cannot promise deletion of every independent provider record. Never send passwords or tokens to support.
6. Updates
We update this policy and relevant store disclosures when services or data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. App Store privacy questionnaire answers must reflect the final release build and provider practices; this page does not itself complete that questionnaire.
